The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an Indian non-governmental organisation providing mid-day meal to children of Government schools. Child labour and drop-out cases across India are issues widely known and worked for. Many initiatives and schemes have been formulated to tackle these recurring issues. Akshaya Patra well understood the interrelation between food and education that gave rise to the idea of food for education. Taking forward the same understanding, on the event of ‘World Day against Child Labour’, Akshaya Patra launched #HungryForSchool, a campaign to raise awareness about the need of food for education. It is needed to be realised by all that well-equipped classrooms are not the main criteria to keep the needy section of the society in school. Rather, it’s the one wholesome and fresh mid-day meal on each school day that incentivises the children to come to school and receive education.

Feed a hungry child at just Rs. 750 for an entire year!
'Hungry for school' sounds better than 'hungry for food'! This connotation brings to fore the fact that when the stomach is full the child will want to learn and grow. The concentration and focus of the child will be on receiving the best of education and not worry about earning a square meal. Every child despite of his or her economic background has the right to food and education. To achieve this equality, The Akshaya Patra Foundation provides 'unlimited food for education' to children of Government schools so that they don't have to worry about at least one meal time each day. It clearly understands the correlation between food and education and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to providing food for children.
