‘come on; you can eat one last bite’ could push us to perform better or push
our limits. Childhood was memorable.
A little pat on the back, a few words of appreciation
and motivation would push us to achieve what we, as children though was
impossible.
Fast forwarding a few years later, cheers got replaced
with awards and rewards. This was the pat on the back that The Akshaya Patra Foundation
received to perform better every year, day in and day out, round the clock for
365 days!

Selflessly, The Akshaya Patra Foundation started
feeding 1500 children from 5 schools. Today, by feeding 1.8 million children on
a daily basis, it is the largest mid-day
meal provider in India. It has worked relentlessly towards the cause ‘Food
for Education’ of children since 2000. Receiving various NGO awards has greatly motivated the organization over the years.
Presently, Akshaya Patra feeds children across 52 locations in 12 States and 2
Union Territories of India. These were like gifts that a child received on
getting better grades in school.

Akshaya Patra Won Gold at LACP vision Award 2018-19
The Akshaya Patra Foundation received the Gold Awards
at the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) Vision Awards 2018-2019 in the Non-Profit
Industry. It was recognized for excellence within its industry on the
development of the organization’s report for the fiscal year 2018-2019. It
bagged the 45th position for developing one of the Top 100 reports worldwide.
Akshaya Patra Won BBC’s Global Food Champion Award 2019
The Akshaya Patra Foundation was chosen as the BBC
World Service’s Global Food Champion 2019. This award honours causes or people that
help societies and inspire lives. The World Service Audience for every
continent sent in their nominations and was awarded the prize by a panel of
international judges.
These Global accolades have helped the organization
push towards feeding more children coming from challenging socio-economic
backgrounds for the cause ‘Food for Education.’ Such rewards act as a
motivation rather than being a chip on the shoulders of The Akshaya Patra Team.
There is no resting for the Foundation till it achieves its vision of feeding 5
million children on a daily basis by 2025.
Many such rewards may definitely boost the
confidence of the organization. But nothing can truly be as satisfying as
watching a child smile on seeing the Blue Van of Hope with the letters
“The Akshaya Patra Foundation.”
