Akshaya Patra Mid Day Meal Inspires Tribal Children in Orissa

Gullu, the little explorer hails from a tribal area in a remote, densely covered region close to forest, in the outskirts of Nayagarh, Orissa. Once his parents leave for work in the morning, he would be left alone to venture in the woods and explore the world all by himself.

One of the days when he was deciphering the mysteries of the woods he suddenly found himself in front of a small building. When he went closer he saw many kids in same attire, all being served tasty food. Children finished and went for their second and even third serve and not once were they rejected.

He had never seen a school before let alone hear about mid day meals. He immediately left to his tribe and shared his experience with other children who themselves had never heard of such a thing.

Gullu ventured out and enrolled at the school along with his friends from the tribe and he never misses his school. He walks miles together every day to go to school, learn about the world and some day realize his dream of exploring lot more. And of course, he rightfully, gets a full meal for lunch that is nutritious like never before and loves it.
