Indian NGO- Akshaya Patra conferred with honorary award by LASSIB Society



 LASSIB Society is a Non Profit Organisation that focuses on ‘Nurturing Next Generation Governance Globally’. This Society recognises exemplary work done towards betterment of the society and the nation as a whole. Through LASSIB Society India Excellence Awards, it allows various organisations to participate and compete under different categories to bring forth their contribution towards the society.

In the recent LASSIB Society India Excellence Awards 2013 held on July 13, 2013 at the LASSIB Society 2013 CXO Confluence in Hyderabad, it conferred The Akshaya Patra Foundation with ‘Honorary Award on Social Responsibility’. It nominated Akshaya Patra in CSR category for the award. Akshaya Patra implements the mid day meal programme in 19 locations across 9 states of India. It works in a Public Private Partnership model and implements the programme under the aegis of Central Government and various State Governments. 

Currently, it is feeding 1.3 million needy children every day across India by reaching out to more than 9000 Government schools. On behalf of the Foundation, the award was received by Satya Gaura Dasa, Unit Head of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Hyderabad. He said, “We are humbled to be honoured by LASSIB. The award has shouldered on us bigger responsibility to continue powering innovations for social causes.” Praveen Kota, Executive President of LASSIB Society added, “The award recognises the efforts of Akshaya Patra team which has set an example to intellectuals across the country.”

Akshaya Patra has also been the recipient of prestigious awards like ICAI Gold Shield Award for financial transparency; LACP LeapVault Award, Summit International Awards and PRCI Award for the creative representation of its Annual report. Akshaya Patra’s effort has also been recognised at a global platform as it has been ranked 23rd among the Top 100 NGOs in the World by Global Journal. 

In addition to the 1.3 million children who receive a wholesome meal everyday as a part of the mid-day meal programme; there are many more who are yet to get the benefit of the programme. Indian NGO aims to feed 5 million such children by 2020. Support the Foundation and be an active participant in its mission.
