Indian NGO Mid Day Meal helped Safina To Fulfill Her Dreams

A highly intelligent soft-spoken girl, Safina Banu comes from a family dwelling in the rural coasts of Mangalore that makes a living out of fishing. Her family has been into this occupation for many generations. But Safina wants to break that tradition and explore the other side of the barrier. At 13 years of age, Safina knows that there exists a different world for her beyond the bounds of her little town. She wants to go to a city and study Law.

Indian NGO beneficiary Safine - A vision miles ahead.

With a hint of excitement in her eyes, Safina says she wants to travel to different countries and understand the laws there. Her teacher says, “This girl is the only child I have come across, with such dreams. She is very intelligent and although she comes from an economically backward family, her dreams are extraordinary. She is a sharp student with great grasping skills. I’m sure she’ll go places someday.”

Her mother rolls ‘Beedis’ (cigarettes) to support her father financially. She says she wants to make her parents stop working once she starts earning enough to support them. About Akshaya Patra food which is served at her school, Bengre Kasba Government Higher Primary School, she says she cannot go through a day without eating it. According to her teacher, although she is the only child, her parents cannot afford even two meals on some days. In such an unfortunate situation, Akshaya Patra food is the only savior of Safina’s dreams.

  2. It makes me very happy when I see the excitement on the student's eyes to become thing different from her or his family and want to study further study, like Safina she wants to do something for her family.
