CSR opportunities are a major aid for every type of NGO. Every cause needs community participation and involvement which can be achieved in a major way through CSR opportunities. In a recent development that occurred as a result of Corporate Social Responsibility with Akshaya Patra was the expansion of the NGO’s cause in Rourkela.
As a part of CSR initiative, the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has donated Rs 8.24 crore to Akshaya Patra. This initiative will help the NGO to expand its mid-day meal programme in Rourkela. This development is expected to benefit 57,000 children in and around Rourkela covering about 431 Government schools. The Akshaya Patra Foundation already feeds 80,415 children in Odisha covering two locations namely Puri and Nayagarh. With the support that came by from SAIL and RSP on the grounds of Corporate Social Responsibility with Akshaya Patra, the NGO now will start feeding in Rourkela too.
