The Akshaya Patra Foundation has been serving mid-day meal in Karnataka since June 2000. From the first day of serving meal till today, the Foundation has been witness that each meal has its own story. Apart from serving mid-day meal in Karnataka, The Akshaya Patra Foundation presently serves mid-day meal across 10 states of India thereby feeding 1.4 million children every day. Interestingly, the Foundation has 1.4 million heart warming and unique children success stories to share.
One such story is about a trio hailing from Mysore district of Karnataka. Anjali, Pooja, and Chandu are three siblings studying in Government Higher Primary School, Devaiahana Hundi, Mysore, Karnataka. Anjali and Pooja have been the students of this school since five years and Chandu has joined this school recently. Previously Chandu used to study in a private school but due to their father’s overdue debts, the family cannot afford to send Chandu to a private school. The three siblings walk up about 6 kilometres to and fro daily to reach school and back home.
Not just financial difficulty, these children also witnessed their parents’ separation in April 2014.
Ever since then they have no contacts with their mother. But the gleaming faces of the trio conceal all the hurdles they face at home and make others believe that they are happy. All the three are the beneficiaries of the mid-day meal in Karnataka provided by The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Anjali adds that the meal tastes lot like their mother’s cooking.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation has many such warm children success stories to share. Know these children little more than just beneficiaries. Join the mission of providing at least one wholesome per day to a child who also a heart full of dreams. Feed a child today.
