The mid-day meal in India has shown tremendous positive impact in the lives of the underserved children and in the lives of their families too. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non-profit organisation working in partnership with the Government of India. This Foundation works as a NGO in Hyderabad and 22 other locations across 10 states of India. Akshaya Patra has been operating as a NGO in Hyderabad since October 2008. Over the years, this NGO in Hyderabad has been able to feed mid-day meal to 54,849 children studying in 454 Government schools in the location. In 21 locations, Akshaya Patra provides mid-day meal in India from its centralised kitchens and Hyderabad is one of those locations. Baran in Rajasthan and Nayagarh in Odisha provides mid-day meal to children from decentralised kitchens as this format best suits the terrain of the mentioned locations.

Akshaya Patra follows the Public-Private Partnership model to implement the mid-day meal in India. This format of operation has shown strategic developments and progresses in reaching out to millions of children. The NGO is supported by the Government in the form of grants and subsidies to run the mid-day meal in India but along with this support the NGO also requires monetary support from the supporters and donors. Akshaya Patra has always taken measures to sustain the programme in existing locations while expanding to newer locations. The efficiency of providing mid-day meal in India by having an account of each penny proves Akshaya Patra's credibility. The meal cost for one child for one whole year has been economically worked out at Rs. 750. This means when a donor contributes Rs. 750 donation to the NGO, he or she is actually providing wholesome nutritious meals for one child for an entire year. With this donation to NGO, the donor has also been successful for allowing the child to continue with the much needed education which otherwise would have been a distant dream for the child. Also, donation to NGO is just one form of contributing towards the mid-day meal programme. Akshaya Patra provides a galore of activities in the Getinvolved section of its official website that can be taken up to add support to the organisation.

This NGO in Hyderabad also reaches out to provide free lunch to Anganwadi centres. Thus the beneficiaries of this NGO in Hyderabad is not just limited to Government school children but to Anganwadi children too. Certainly, Akshaya Patra is working towards 100% elimination of classroom hunger thereby paving way for a completely educated India. For this it requires the support of each member of the society.
Come forward and join the movement to provide mid-day meal in India so that every child in India is able to live their childhood and create their future.
