Corporate support makes the latest NGO news




In a recent development a non-profit organisation in India, The Akshaya Patra Foundation received a whopping donation of Rs. 200 crore from Infosys and the Tata Group together. This NGO donations will be utilised towards expanding Akshaya Patra’s reach across the country, and equipping kitchen facilities with latest technology to enhance quality of food in a cost effective manner.


Along with donating Rs. 127 crore the Infosys Foundation will also contribute an additional of Rs. 20 crore for the corpus. This contribution will be utilised towards construction and operation of three modern kitchens. The donation of Rs. 55 crore from the Jamsetji Tata Trust will be utilised to procure latest food safety technology.


The NGO news also covers the proposed kitchens at Hyderabad and Jodhpur. It also covers that the Infosys NGO donations have aided Akshaya Patra to procure closed vessel cooking technology, a technology that helps to retain food aroma during cooking. Speaking on this Vice Chairman of the NGO, Chanchalapathi Dasa said that the Foundation is importing six Tetra Pak technology machines from Sweden, each with the capacity to cook 7,200 meals in just 20 minutes. The NGO donations from Tata Trust will be utilised toward setting up of food labs in Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore and Ahmedabad along with hiring cost of food safety officers for all the 23 kitchens in India.
