Mid-day meal NGO in Chhattisgarh

The mid-day meal programme in India has gained substantial momentum following the positive impact it has been showing since its inception. Not just non-profit organisations and individual supporters but corporate houses too are supportive of this promising initiative. Along with Government aid in the form of grants and subsidies this non-profit organisation has received ample support to implement the mid-day meal programme in India from corporate houses to sustain and expand its service to millions of underserved children. The corporate houses both from public and private sector partner with this non-profit organisation under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

The Foundation began its service as a NGO in Chhattisgarh in January 2009. This non-profit organisation operates an ISO 22000:2005 certified centralised kitchen unit at Bhilai to prepare mid-day meals for 23,674 children of 160 Government schools in and around Bhilai. The freshly cooked meal is then transported to the schools in meal delivery vehicles that are customised to retain the freshness of the cooked food with honeycomb structure to stack the filled vessels to avoid spillage. This non-profit organisation has witnessed the positive changes the mid-day meal programme in India has brought in the lives of the underserved children. There are many success stories of Akshaya Patra beneficiaries that testify the positive implication of the wholesome mid-day meal on the health and education of the children. Read here what the beneficiaries of mid-day meal programme in India have to share with you.

This non-profit organisation steers all its activities toward its vision of ‘No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger'. Apart from serving as a NGO in Chhattisgarh, Akshaya Patra is also operational in nine other states namely Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha and Gujarat. Currently, it is providing mid-day meal to 1.4 million children all over India. It aims to feed 5 million children by 2020. Though it appears to be a humongous task, it is not impossible. Indeed it requires a huge support from the society. A supporter can choose to donate for NGO, volunteer or become an online supporter. There are various ways to support this non-profit organisation; it just takes a moment to decide how a supporter wants to contribute to the mid-day meal programme in India.

If one chooses to donate for NGO, he or she is actually providing mid-day meal to a child for one whole year with Rs.750. This puts to thought, what would it result to if each member of the society donates Rs 750 to thisNGO? These donations will help children to get education and food. The food and education will bring them out of the vicious trap of poverty, hunger and illiteracy.

Support mid-day meal programme in India through this non-profit organisation.
