President appreciates Akshaya Patra’s role in India

 

 In a recent development, The Akshaya Patra Foundation received heartfelt appreciation and good wishes by Pranab Mukherjee, Honourable President of India for its vital role in implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme thereby aiding in eradication of hunger and promotion of education. During the meeting with Mukherjee, Madhu Pandit Dasa, the Chairman of the Foundation gave an overview of role of Akshaya Patra India, its vision and its operations. The meeting was also attended by the Foundation’s Vice Chairman, Chanchalapathi Dasa.

Akshaya Patra in India currently feeds 1.4 million children. It recently inaugurated its 21st centralised kitchen in the country. Akshaya Patra implements the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in Public-Private Partnership model wherein the Government of India and several State Governments along with generous donors help the Foundation in its operations. The presence of Akshaya Patra in India is felt across 10 states.
